Meet
Francisco

Hello, my name is Francisco Costela. I am an applied machine learning engineer, data scientist, and a transformer. I have a strong passion to work with data - I have trained in data science, computer vision, and machine learning, creating ETL pipelines, building and deploying AI models, and running quantitative analysis. I have 15+ years professional programming and wide experience with AI - Object Recognition Models, Large Language Models, AI Deployment on Camera Sensors - as well as Mathematical and Data Modeling, Biostatistics, Eye Tracking, Experimental Design Testing, Technical Literacy, and versatile Project Management adhering to Agile methodologies.

Besides my experience in industry, I also applied these skills to conduct research and development in an academic surrounding for over a decade, with the goal of understanding fixational eye movements and transforming how we think about visual impairments. As you will see by my projects, I've conquered some big challenges.

As for my next step, I would like to continue to grow my AI/ML skills towards a common good, both business and professional.

A few more comments about my hobbies: I am physically active - enjoy hiking, lifting, and practicing jiu-jitsu. I am also mentally active - I love any mental stimulation like puzzles, escape rooms, and boardgames (check my profile on BoardGameGeek). In addition, travelling is my passion and I've been fortunate to travel the world, living in ten cities (Granada, Edinburgh, Madrid, Chicago, Oxford, Seville, Phoenix, Boston, San Diego, and now San Francisco) and visited nearly 50 countries.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me, my background, accomplishments, and travels. I'm a bit of an adventurer and it's time for my next adventure.

Francisco

My goal is to provide value to society. Data are my pathway towards that goal.
